Draft. Our business details are still being finalised, so parts of this page are marked in brackets. It is not yet a final policy — ask us anything in the meantime.

We are a small studio. We collect as little as we can get away with, we do not sell anything about you to anyone, and the parts children touch are built so that nothing personal leaves the device at all.

Who we are

oh, wishing tree is run by [LEGAL ENTITY, e.g. SelfTax LLC trading as "oh, wishing tree"], [REGISTERED BUSINESS ADDRESS].

For anything on this page, write to [CONTACT EMAIL, e.g. hello@ohwishingtree.com].

What we collect, and why

When you order. Your name, delivery address and email address, and what you bought. We need these to print your order and post it to you.

Payment details. Taken by Stripe on their own checkout page. Card numbers never reach our servers and we never see them.

If you make an account. Your email address, and the name and picture on your Google profile if you sign in with Google.

Game progress. Kept in your own browser's storage, not on our servers.

Usage counts. Event names and small numbers — that a game started, how many words were read. Never words, sentences, or anything you typed or said.

The parts children use

Photos you play with stay on your device. When you use your own picture in Hide & Seek Puzzles, it is stored only in your browser. It is never uploaded to us.

Speech is never recorded. The reading game listens through the speech recognition built into your browser. We store no audio and no transcripts — only whether a word was read. Depending on which browser you use, that browser may send audio to its own maker's service to turn it into text; that is between you and your browser, and we prefer on-device recognition where the browser offers it.

The camera is optional and never recorded. If a grown-up switches it on, the picture is shown on screen only. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Made-up pictures. If you use the picture-maker, the words you type are sent to Google's Gemini service to draw the picture, and the picture is stored with your account so you can play it again. Do not type real names or anything private.

Who else sees your information

Only the companies that make the thing work, and only what they need:

Stripe — payment, and your delivery address.

Our print partner — your name, address, email and the image, so they can print and post your order.

Google — if you sign in with Google, or use the picture-maker.

Vercel and MongoDB Atlas — hosting and the database.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Orders are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete them. Anything held in your browser stays until you clear your browser data.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie, to keep you signed in if you make an account. We also use your browser's local storage for your basket and game progress. We run no advertising or analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers — which is why you are not being nagged by a cookie banner.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection regulator; if you are in California you have the right to know and to delete, and we do not sell personal information.

Write to [CONTACT EMAIL, e.g. hello@ohwishingtree.com] and we will answer within 30 days.

Where your information goes

Our suppliers operate in the UK, the EU and the United States, so your information may be processed in any of them.

Changes

If we change how any of this works we will update this page and change the date at the bottom.
